The art of being

Has anybody else noticed how hard it is just ‘to be’? We seem to be programmed to live in a constant ‘to do’ mode, where a free moment of silence brings a question of being wasteful or losing something one would never get back. Our minds race to be prepared for whatever is to come next as about to miss the last train to ‘best of what life can offer’. Our programming measures success in fancy careers and material belongings and we get uneasy to see friends / colleagues / relatives move faster than us. We torment ourselves with where and who we think we should be or worse yet - who we think the other people expect us to be. Afraid falling behind, mind works overtime trying to catch up to the invisible line always little further away. There is always another reason to save more money, little extra knowledge need to be gained… whatever reason, but i have seen that most of us struggling one way or another.

I wish i had all the answers and could tell you in 1… 2 … 3 the secret to true happiness but I am on a journey myself trying uncover the truth of that for my life. What i have learned so far is that when i take time to silence my mind in meditation, the times that i do need to brainstorm, my focus is sharper. After a walk in nature life slows down on all levels and what used to appear big and scary may turn out to be not so after all. When you just breath in and out consciously, even the blood pressure will drop in matter of minutes. I recently read a study about how room full of metronomes became in sync after a while, i found it most fascinating and realised that it happens in nature all the time. It certainly happens to us - have you noticed the affect of your environment on your mood and wellbeing? What sort of situations are you choosing to sync yourself to? Perhaps one needs to try few speeds before deciding which is the most comfortable tempo for their life, we are not all built the same… However, if you often feel you are constantly chasing your tail and not getting much further, perhaps it is time to slow down and allow yourself to just be for a while. Admire the sunset, take a walk in the park, connect with an old friend or just disconnect in silence. The new energy, wisdom, clarity and even happiness is all found in the silence within.

Love and light and thank you for reading! :)
